Here’s a step-by-step guide to understanding Reiki and practicing self-healing as a beginner:
Understanding Reiki
Reiki is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing. It is based on the idea that an unseen "life force energy" flows through us and is what causes us to be alive.
Reiki works by channeling universal life force energy through the practitioner's hands, which can be placed on or just above the body.

Practicing Self-Healing with Reiki
Prepare Your Space
Find a quiet, comfortable space where you won't be disturbed. Dim the lights, play soft music, and consider using candles or incense to create a relaxing atmosphere.
Grounding and Centering
Sit comfortably with your feet flat on the ground. Close your eyes and take a few deep breaths. Visualize roots growing from your feet into the earth, grounding you.
Activate Reiki Energy
Set an intention to connect with the Reiki energy. You can say a silent prayer or affirmation, such as "I am now connecting to the universal Reiki energy for my highest good."
A great way to start to feel Reiki energy is imagining a ball of energy in your hands, bring your hands together and feel the push of the energy. As your energy grows the further away you will be able to feel it.
Hand Positions
Use the following hand positions, holding each for 3-5 minutes. You can adjust the time based on your intuition.
Head - Place your hands lightly on top of your head.
Eyes - Place hands over your eyes without touching them.
Temples - Place hands on your temples.
Throat - Place hands on either side of your throat.
Heart - Place hands over your heart center.
Solar Plexus - Place hands over your solar plexus.
Abdomen - Place hands over your abdomen.
Lower Abdomen - Place hands over your lower abdomen.
Flow with the Energy
Relax and allow the energy to flow naturally. You might feel warmth, tingling, or other sensations. Trust the process and your intuition.
Closing the Session
After finishing, bring your hands together in a prayer position and express gratitude for the Reiki energy.
Grounding - Take a few deep breaths and visualize any excess energy flowing down into the earth.
After the Session
Hydrate
Drink plenty of water to help your body process the energy changes.
Reflect
Take some time to reflect on your experience. You might want to keep a journal to note any sensations, emotions, or insights that came up during the session.
Regular Practice
Consistency is key. Try to practice self-Reiki daily to maintain a balanced energy flow and enhance your overall well-being.
Additional Tips
